Gibson County wide Red Cross campaign shows strong giving with an estimated 13 000 subtotal and expectations to reach 15 000 by Saturday. June 21 Owensville prepares for Evangelist Bulgin and helpers as the 72 by 112 foot tabernacle ready for services starting Sunday. The crisis building went up with lightning speed. volunteers from the fire department and many lay workers contributed. Church women fed carpenters. union choir of 200 practiced. Alleged Slacker Held After Admission of Military Age

James Hall, 22, arrested by Chief Helsley near a camp south of Bridgeport on the C and E I railroad. He could not show an army registration card and claimed to have joined the National Guard at Bridgeport, a claim contradicted by inquiries. Hall is jailed pending federal instructions. transit workers report nightly checks for age and registration cards.

The marriage of Miss Ivy L. Miller of Petersburg and Frank M. Davis of this city took place in Evansville on Wednesday afternoon. Davis is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Cal Davis of West Broadway and works as a driller in the oil fields. The couple will reside in this city.

Wilson designates week for army recruiting 70,000 men

President Wilson issues a proclamation designating June 23 to 30 as recruiting week for the regular army. Unmarried men aged 18 to 40 with no dependents are urged to enroll for war service to help raise the regular force toward 300,000 by June 30. Army officials had feared slow enlistment despite broad recruiting efforts.

Painter resigns to join Evansville Union Depot staff

Painter, long time ticket agent at the Southern passenger station, has resigned to take a similar position at the Union Depot in Evansville. He and his family are visiting Dale with relatives and will move to Evansville soon. Albert L. Sanders, ill with rheumatism for months, resumed duties at the Southern Passenger station Monday morning.
