Governor Warren T. McCray told Prosecutor J. J. Robinson by phone to call on the state if Gibson county lawlessness grows. He urged officers to nip the issue in the bud, defend order, and inform him of any changes while promising any needed assistance.
Acting under Judge Baltzell orders, a special grand jury venire met at 1 PM to receive instructions. Four jurors reported, two could not. Baltzell planned to draw two more, with all jurors to hear guidance at 3 PM to begin investigations. Prosecutors Kreig and Robinson discussed the Gibson Pike counties hunkies situation and potential action.
The Wabash County Fair Association at Mt. Carmel Winvis schedules September 20 to 24. It is one of the youngest fairs with strong leadership. Last year drew large attendance and hosts Roy D. Smith's 30 piece band costing 2600 dollars. Open air attractions to improve as premiums rise for exhibitors.

Offering totals were $128.00 at the thurce bank, $5.00 in afile boxes, and $170.25 in the birthday jar, summing to 303.25. The Rev. C. J. Duncan was recalled as pastor for another year ending September 1, 1923.
Mr. and Mrs. J A Wade of Birmingham Alabama visiting Princeton report seven weeks without rain in Birmingham. The drought could cause a total crop failure, with cotton growers facing heavy losses from last year and continuing supply on hand.
Attorney Oscar Lanphar, former Gibson County prosecutor, was appointed by Circuit Judge Baltzell as special prosecutor to assist Prosecutor James Robinson in the Francisco affair grand jury investigation. Jurors yet to report at 3 o'clock. a complete venire is to appear in court at 4 80.

Kasper Shanner died at Holly Colorado on June 10 1921. He was raised in Oakland City Indiana and taught in several county schools. Survived by widow Nellie Reavis their two sons and siblings in Philadelphia Winston Salem and Oakland City. Funeral at Francisco Methodist church Wednesday at 2 30 p m.
Mary Margaret Byrnes died this morning at 1 o clock at 612 South Gibson Street from complications of disease. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis Byrnes she leaves parents and a brother Charles William. Funeral set for Tuesday at 9 am at St Joseph Catholic Church with Father N A Hassel officiating. Burial in St Joseph Cemetery.
The Rev Morris Watson D D pastor of the United Presbyterian church since 1911 died Monday at 4 am in Methodist hospital from chronic nephritis. Funeral Tuesday at 3 pm at the United Presbyterian church with burial in Cord, Ohio. He was born December 24 1868 in Guernsey County Ohio and served pastorates in Highridge Ohio Burgettsburg Pa and this city. He leaves two children Mary Grace and Hager Ruth, a widow Mrs Florence White Watson, and relatives including an aged mother Mrs Margaret Watson. He was remembered as a man of God with a broad vision and care for others.
Sheriff Flowers received a telegram from Walter Korff manager of Bosse Coal at Buckskin informing Night Watchman Hogan he must leave the mine within 24 hours. The mine's management urged compliance but local officers were notified and kept watch through Sunday. Superintendent W. E. Cox, exiled from Francisco, is expected as a key witness before the grand jury as a Gib court session opens Monday to investigate the affair.

Early Saturday morning a group of Austrians nicknamed hunkies were routed from a railroad construction camp east of Oakland City in Pike county. They described being mistreated and robbed of cash clothing and watches during two days of hiding while police and local residents coordinated responses. Three men sought help from attorney T W Cullen recounting escape in the night with only partial clothing and belongings.
Indiana governor McCray sends Adjutant General Harry B Smith to Gibson County to restore order amid miners and workers leaving under threats to import labor. Coal operators report quiet only because men have left the area and fear returning. Governor pledges state protection and enforcement while labor and coal operations may resume with any labor.
