Thad Nash drove west when his car collided with Joshua Duncan's at Main Street and Broadway Friday around 10 am. Duncan’s car was turned around facing north after the impact. two rear tires bursted and the left rear fender and wheel were damaged. No injuries were reported.
Mrs Lula B Fisher of 324 West Emerson street was injured Friday morning when a table she stood on to arrange wires for training vines collapsed. Neighbors Joplin Sickle and Leonard aided her, with a painful hip bruise and significant shock. A note on candles mentions an auto snuffing candlestick invention.
At Chicago June 11 United Press reports the Republican National Convention opened with nominating Wood. A massive Wood rally featured feather showers, banners, and a pink dress girl leading a Lowden display. Demonstrations rose and fell as delegates watched, with chairman Lodge keeping order amid the spectacle.
Corinne Roosevelt Robinson of New York spoke as the first woman to second a national convention, her voice clear as she urged America to choose a leader who looks from America out. The rally turned tense as Governor Frank O Lowden’s nomination drew crowd reaction and Chairman Lodge struggled to regain order.
Fourteen thousand delegates and spectators attended as Major General Leonard Wood Gov Frank Lowden Senator Hiram Johnson Gov Calvin Coolidge Fred Pritchard Nicholas Murray Butler and Herbert Hoover spoke. Lowden drew the largest reaction with a 42 minute demonstration while Wood spoke 39 minutes and Johnson 28. Wheeler faced heckling during Johnsons nomination speech. Recess was planned only after ballots if needed.
Murray Crane predicts few ballots for nomination as Lowden supporters push forward at the session. Beveridge gavel lead intensifies while delegates heed the five minute rule. Wheeler nominates Hiram Johnson and Johnson departs to Coliseum as Johnson’s brief applause shifts to a public equity appeal for four more years of Wilson.

Word has been received of the death of Mrs Nettie Downing who died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter in Pearl City ML. She was born in Princeton July 12 1895, daughter of William and Caroline Clark, sister of Allen Clark and the late Oscar Clark. She leaves two sons Floyd and Charley of California, and two daughters Mrs W B McLaughlin of Pearl City T and Mrs Russell B Griess of Chicago. The remains will be brought to the home of Miss Marieffie Bodger 421 Spring street. Burial will be in Warnock cemetery.
Miss Nell Mae Mewarty of Ft. Branch and Herbert E. Martin of Oakland City married Wednesday at 5 PM in Cynthiana at Rev Jyimes parsonage. Brides parents attended. Nell Mae is the youngest McCarty daughter from St Ranch. Groom is Fred Martin Jr. and Mrs. Martin's oldest son. he manages A L Maxwell garage in Oakland City. They will live in Oakland City.
The Gibson County Board of Review will hear complaints on the assessment of personal property and additional improvements in Barton Township. The session is set for Wednesday, June 16, 1920, with Silas E. Morris serving as president and James H. Armstrong as secretary.
The funeral of William Luther Wilson was held at Patoka on Friday afternoon. Archer Post G A R of this city, of which the deceased was a member, attended the services. Classified ad rates apply at 1 cent per word.
Russel McRobert reports his sister Myrtle McRoberts aged 14 suffered a fracture to her left arm near the wrist in a fall from the tin roof of a farm home east of Oakland City. The accident occurred about 5 pm while painting a wet roof with family members.
Seven international unions call for government ownership to ensure cheaper transportation and curb railroad influence. The resolution, backed by the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and others, appears at the AFL convention. Another resolution by the AFL Teachers condemns compulsory military training in schools as un-American.

Federal Judge Mack sustained the demurrer in New York June 11 and quashed the indictment against the American Woolen Co and its president William J. Woods. The court held a clear distinction between wearing apparel and pieces of cloth.
The Republican national convention adjourned at 7 35 p m after adopting a resolutions report and a platform including a compromise League of Nations plank. A minority report failed and the party agreed to nominate a presidential candidate by Friday night with limited speeches. The league plank harmonizes conflicting elements and condemns the treaty covenant as failing to preserve world peace.
The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Maidlow will be celebrated Sunday June 15 at their home near Inglefield a few miles north of Evansville. The event includes a basket picnic dinner with transport from Princeton to Salem Station at 8 40 p m. The couple aged 89 and 70 respectively will be honored by their children and relatives.
