Carrier Boy Resigns to Begin Apprentice Work

Earl McCullough, five years with The Daily Democrat as a carrier on the Coal Mine route, has resigned to take an apprenticeship at a Southern shop. He was well known to patrons along the route and the paper wishes him success in his new position.

Canadian Pacific figures put Empress of Ireland toll at 969 with 55 first class, 688 second and third class passengers, and 226 crew. Man Identifies Body of Mrs Richards in Empress Disaster

Terre Haute June 1 George H. Richards arrived in Quebec and identified the body of his mother Mrs George C Richards who was lost in the steamship Empress disaster. Mrs Harold Gray and her daughter remain missing.

Thomas Bammer Returns From Home After Surgery

Thomas Bammer, confined at his North Seminary residence for a month after appendicitis surgery, was able to be downtown Saturday morning for a short time.

Drowning of Gilbert Ritterskamp in White River

Gilbert Ritterskamp, 23, son of W J Ritterskamp, drowned while bathing at Bingham's Bend near Long Pond in White River. Under current pulled him under. body recovered about 6 pm. He was active with Princeton gardens, member of First Presbyterian, and leaves wife Charlotte Rosenbaum and family. Funeral Tuesday at 5 pm at East Spruce residence. Burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Winters Case Sparks Habeas Corpus Bid in Castle Indiana

Dr. Winters said he would file habeas corpus as soon as warrants were issued. Affidavit witnesses for a conspiracy to murder and burn include Detectives Abell and Webster, farmer William Van Matre, Fannie Matthews, Harriett Lawson, Chief William Williams, and Assistant Chief Luther Koons. Mrs. Winters disputed Abell’s claim that clothing found at the Winters home belonged to the missing girl.
