London July 10 The naval correspondent of the Evening Standard identifies the German battleship sunk in the Baltic by the British submarine as the Pommern.

Prince Rupert urged to capture Pacific fish trade from Seattle

George L. Clayton writes to Prince Rupert officials proposing a plan to build a wharf and cold storage to bolster independent fishermen. He argues to divert Seattle's halibut trade by enabling local fishing vessels to store and distribute fish, creating a home port advantage for Prince Rupert. Canadian Officer Shot During Burial Service

Capt. Robert Buscombe of the Seventh Battalion was killed during last rites at a front burial. The chaplain, Lieut. Winch, Lieut. Leeson, and Capt. Buscombe stood over hastily dug graves when a sniper's bullet struck him, ending his life instantly. He was buried with full military honors.

United States Presses for tougher Germany reply over Lusitania note

Washington officials view Germany note as a rebuff to U S demands after Lusitania sinking. Secretary Lansing defers comment while awaiting full official text as President Wilson plans cabinet review and possible action. Washington papers call the note impudent and unsatisfactory and anticipate severance of relations if violations continue. The Morning Journal reports 36 cents monthly.

Drive Near as Allied Forces Prepared, Ryerson Says

Dr. G Sterling Ryerson, president of the Canadian Red Cross Society and Surgeon General, reports excellent condition and spirit among Canadian and Allied troops along the Aisne and Marne. He predicts a tremendous western front drive within two months and believes Germany will be defeated with the war ending within a year.

Majestic Stork Company Heads North After Week at Westholme
