Directors of the Preston Golf and Country Club accepted Waterworks Equipment Co. of Salt Lake City bid for a complete underground cast iron pipe water system for the nine hole course near radio station KPSTI. Maughan Completes Fort Lewis Communications Course
Pvt. Carl W. Maughan son of Dr and Mrs Weston Maughan of Franklin completed a school of communications course at Fort Lewis Washington on September 11. Local Chairman Praises U S Savings Bonds Attractiveness
D Gordon Merrill Franklin county savings bonds committee chairman says the June 1 1959 rate increase makes old and new series E and H bonds more valuable and urges holders to keep old bonds and continue buying new ones. The law adds 3 percent interest on bonds issued after June 1 and raises returns on outstanding E and H bonds by at least half a percent during 1959 to maturity, with a 10 year extension for all E bonds.

U P Railroads New Safety Award Highlights 1958 Record
Union Pacific Railroad wins the E. H. Harriman Memorials Gold Medal for its 1958 safety record marking the 14th such award in 35 years. Officials report an accident rate of 1.59 per million man hours, leading the 2.00 second place and well above the all railroads average of 5.82 in its class. The award will be presented Sept 16 in New York at a safety dinner.

George V. Hansen 69 of Weston died, funeral set in Weston ward chapel with Bishop Rolen Bastian presiding. Born February 20 1890 in Weston, he married Mildred G. Cooper in 1913 Logan temple. A rural mail carrier for 39 years, he retired in 1955 and is survived by four children, ten grandchildren, and three brothers. Viewing Thursday at Webb Mortuary and Friday at Weston ward chapel before 11 am services. Burial in Weston Cemetery.
