County board sets levy cut while denying Hale tax relief
Franklin County Commissioners approved a budget levy reduction of about 1.3 mills for the coming year but said overall tax dollars will stay the same. They rejected Dr Boyd Hale of Preston’s request for a property tax exemption on a $120,000 clinic project across from the county hospital. The board noted the building is not yet under construction and cannot receive such relief by law. Sheriff Arlando Larsen reported staffing changes and a meal program for prisoners. Bids will be sought for two 10 wheel trucks to haul gravel.
