Deadline Set On TV Exemption in Franklin County

Property owners in a translator district must file an exemption certificate to avoid a tax bill for one of the two newly formed Franklin County TV districts. The certificate states nonuse of the translator. exemptions due by Sept. 5. filed at the county auditor's office as rolls are prepared.

Druggist Ellis Johnson Found Safe After Lost Lake Search

Ellis Johnson a Preston druggist and former state representative was reported lost while hiking near St Charles canyon after an overnight trip. He was located and brought back to Preston with a pulled muscle and fatigue as volunteer jeep units from Bear Lake and Franklin counties conducted the search.

Franklin County ASCS to adjust daily office hours

Starting Sept 2 the Franklin County ASCS Office will close from noon to 1 p.m. The hours become 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Blaine Gamble, chairman, said the committee may open at noon during the 1970 farm programs sign-up.

Library To Resume Regular Hours At Preston Carnegie

Preston Carnegie Library will resume regular hours starting Monday. Hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. daily except Saturday. Saturday hours will be from noon to 5 p.m.

Topographic Maps Underway In Southeastern Idaho Survey

U S Geological Survey field parties in Preston Idaho survey 880 miles of southeastern Idaho for topographic maps. The area includes Franklin Preston St Charles and Weston with 400 square miles of Cache National Forest. crews work from Pres ton and Weston field offices to produce quadrangle sheets detailing roads towns rivers and terrain.

Shelley Greaves and Kathy Jansen contended for first in the Citizen subscription contest this week with Kathy at 5450 points, 200 behind Shelley. Preston records show few registered voters for city election

Petitions for mayor and three council seats are available at the Preston City office for the November election. City Clerk says only 647 residents are registered, about half of eligible voters, with 366 in the first precinct and 281 in the second. Registration runs at the city office. filing window for petitions is Sept 25 to Oct 6.

Douglas B Gamble of Preston completed a Master of Arts in Secondary Education at Utah State University Logan. His Plan B titled American Youth Their Political Socialization. He is son of Blaine and Kristine Gamble, married to Kristine Lowe. He graduated from Preston High School and earned a 1968 political science BA at Utah State. He now plans to teach at Murray High School in Salt Lake City.
