Questionnaires On Farm Census Are Now in Mail
The 1959 census of agriculture questionnaires are in the mail and will reach local farmers soon. Field Director Guy Rainboth of the Census Bureau in Seattle says the forms are mailed from Chicago to reach farmers a week before field canvass starts. The questionnaire covers farms size, acreage, crops, livestock, facilities, expenditures, values, and mortgage debt, with about 100 yes or no questions.

Former Local Man Takes Arizona Oath As New Attorney
Claude D. Keller Jr formerly of Mink Creek was sworn in as a member of the Arizona state bar and licensed to practice before all courts. He is a 1949 graduate of Preston High School and earned a BA from Utah State in 1953. Keller served as a US Army officer before earning his LLB from the University of Arizona in 1959 and is now an examiner in the Securities Division of the Arizona State Corporation Commission. Census Takers Start Field Work This Week
Field work for the 1959 census of agriculture begins locally this week with a force of census takers visiting every farm in the area. Field Director Guy E. Rainboth of the Census Bureau Seattle office announced mailings to farm operators and the collection of completed questionnaires. The census, conducted every five years since 1840, covers farm numbers, sizes, acreage, crops, livestock, inventories, facilities, equipment and expenditures, with strict federal confidentiality for individual data.

Four Preston Girls Injured In Auto Mishap
Four young Preston girls were injured Monday when the car swerved from Whitney Road and struck a cement culvert. Carol 8 and Joanne 4 were taken to Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden in fair condition with a fractured jaw and tooth loss. Peggy 14 and Janet 5 remain under treatment at Preston Hospital with a broken arm.

Local Girl Satisfactory After Heart Surgery
Shirlene Roholt six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Virgil Roholt of Preston is reported in satisfactory condition after open heart surgery at Salt Lake City Latter-day Saints Hospital. She was in the operating room from 7 45 a.m. to 2 10 p.m. The physician said the procedure is not unusual for a child.

The State Highway Department announced bids for a Riverdale South section of Highway 34. The 1959 census of agriculture underway in Franklin county will update farm statistics last collected in 1954. In 1954 farm operators sold products valued at 5 5,988,799 with crops 2 742,441 including field crops 2,653,495 vegetables 77,171 fruits and nuts 4,975 and horticulture 6,800. Livestock and products sold totaled 3,246,358 including dairy 1,520,515 poultry 615,784 and other livestock 1,110,059.
