Homer Johnson Dies at 54 Business Leader in Preston
Homer Johnson 54 prominent in Preston for 30 years died suddenly Thursday night of a heart attack as he prepared to close his Johnson Drug Store. He led civic groups including the American Legion and Rotary Club and served as Idaho State Pharmaceutical Assn president and Franklin County state senator. Born June 17 1899 in Moab Utah he married Dorothy Canfield in Preston in 1924 and is survived by his wife two sons a granddaughter and brothers and sisters. Funeral held Tuesday at Oneida stakehouse with burial in Preston city cemetery.

A Saturday night fire severely damaged the Fairview residence of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Corigatti when a kitchen blaze broke out while they were away. Furniture from bedroom and living room removed. Interior kitchen and bathroom fixtures burned. walls and roof narrowly spared by firefighters.

Deer Season Opens Across Eastern Idaho Tomorrow
Deer season will open in Franklin and Bannock counties west of the Union Pacific railroad from October 16 to 20 and east of the railroad from October 1 to 14. Calvin Z. Foss 75 a Preston businessman and civic leader died Wednesday night at Preston Memorial Hospital after a long illness a stroke Tuesday preceded his death. Funeral services are set for Monday at 1 pm in the first ward chapel with calling at the family home Sunday after 5. Foss was born November 7 1877 in Salt Lake City and came to Preston in 1900 founding the Foss Clothing store. He married Ollie Smart June 1 1904 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Survivors include his widow two daughters Connie Gibbons Preston and Lucille Linsdale Ogden a son Dr Calvin L. Foss San Diego three grandchildren one brother Luther Foss New York City and a sister Mrs Sadie Elliott Los Angeles.
