Sugar Plant Prepares for Opening in Lewiston
The Amalgamated Sugar Company in Lewiston plans the start of its annual campaign in about five days with the receiving stations opening October 11 and the factory beginning October 13. About 7 480 acres of beets supply the Lewiston mill with roughly 350 workers for around 65 days.

School Board awards bid for new Eastside school
The Mitchell Construction Co of Pocatello won the $692,100 bid to build the Eastside school. Logan’s Mees Construction bid $738,000 was higher. Carpet and kindergarten facilities will be let separately with about $40,000 for carpet. Total building cost, with architect fees, set at $926,126. completion aimed for August 1972.

Preston High Choir Tops Subscription Contest Early
The Preston high school choir leads the Citizen subscription drive to fund a trip to San Francisco. With 83 members, they already hold over 2000 points and aim to reach 75,000 for top prizes, while subscriptions cost 450 a year, 8.50 for two years, or 11 for three.

Cannery Opens for Staple Goods in Franklin County
