The chamber of commerce board reviewed Preston’s growth with 55 new enterprises recently and ongoing remodeling by existing firms. A major park upgrade is planned including tearing down fences, razing the grandstand, sprinklers and lawn, plus a tennis court, baseball diamond and other facilities. West Side officials sought road improvements and a Dayton rail crossing signal cooperation.

Two Car Collision at Preston Street Intersection
Police report Dora Gay Martin 16 traveling south and Leonard Winn 41 east collided near Preston Street causing both vehicles to careen 160 feet. Martins car struck the Foss home on 82 North First East, then Winn struck rear front fender. Both drivers suffered bruises and shock. Martin treated at hospital and released. Extensive vehicle, landscape, and foundation damage reported.

Idaho voter amendments outlined for November election
The Citizen prints proposed constitutional amendments for Idaho voters in Franklin county. One amendment would remove the county superintendent of public instruction as an elective office, with the county commissioners, treasurer, probate judge, assessors, coroner and surveyor becoming elective. Another amendment proposes qualifications for state officers, restricting governors and lieutenant governors to those at least 80 years old at election, and likewise affecting the secretary of state and state auditor.

Harvest Vacation to Begin Monday on East Side
