Franklin County March of Dimes names Ace Beckstead as chairman

Franklin county chapter of the Nationals Foundation for Infantile Paralysis announced Ace Beckstead of Preston as chairman for the 1958 March of Dimes campaign. Mike Lowe reported 1957 results and polio incidence were favorable as national efforts continue vaccination and research.

Idaho State Tops College of Idaho in 34-21 Victory

Idaho State defeated College of Idaho 34 21 in a clash marking ISC's 87th series meeting. The Bengals dominated, finishing the season with a school record 280 points while limiting foes to 85. ISC loses 10 seniors but returns 15 juniors three sophomores and seven freshmen.

Boise Conclave Local Businessmen Attend

Preston zoning commission reviews proposed ordinance

The Preston zoning commission held a public meeting in the city building to review a proposed zoning ordinance now being formulated. Mayor O Sherwin Webb and city officials urged citizens to study the draft and submit criticisms or suggestions for improvement. Yule Opening Tomorrow Night In Preston

Preston stores plan Friday evening hours with lights on along State Street at 5 30. Local firms stay open until 7 Pm and display Christmas toys and merchandise. Saturday Dec 7 hosts a free Grand Theatre show for children 12 years and under at 10 am. The Preston Rotary Club will sponsor the 24th consecutive Christmas cantata in Franklin stakehouse on Wednesday December 18 at 8 p.m. General chairman W. Py Shumway announced invitations will be mailed to area supporters of fine Christmas music and Yuletide events. The cantata features a 55 voice chorus directed by Mrs Elda Carlson with an eight piece orchestra and readings and solos. Whitney Davis will serve as organist and Mrs Glen Oliverson will play piano.

Dairy course invites Franklin county farmers this week
