Elden Tanner opens his new men s clothing store in Preston after remodeling the building vacated by M H King Cov. The store measures about 25 by 135 feet with new fixtures. Local youths and U S Marine face burglary rap
Three Preston youths and a U S marine were arrested Tuesday by Sheriff Ray Talbot for first degree burglary at Oliverson's service station. Entrance was gained by breaking the front door glass. The marine, 19 year old William Emery of Kokomo Indiana on two week furlough, will be sent back to camp for sentence. The three local youths aged 15 16 and 17 will be sentenced locally. Cash and groceries were taken along with a small amount of change.

The third biennial weed control short course ran November 14 to 19 at the University of Idaho. Hyrum John, assistant county agent in charge of crop improvement and weed control work for Franklip county, attended. Seaman first class Delbert A Chadwick of the destroyer Hopewell survived a mid ocean plane collision near San Diego on November 11 after leaving his post for a meal. The attack simulation caused a fatal explosion killing five and injuring twelve. Chadwick’s quick departure spared him from the blast.
