Christmas Opening Sparkles with Parade and Santa
The annual Christmas opening will occur Saturday with a 5 30 p m switch to light the Yule display. Merchants plan toy departments sales and events all day while Santa and costumed characters appear in a 10 30 a m parade. Afterward Santa and sleigh will park on State street in front of the bank for visits. A matinee baby sitting event at Isis theater awaits, as city crews install holiday lights and merchants are urged to detonate stores. Chamber secretary Rudolph Duna notes the procession aims to delight with 50 costumed elves and a grand parade spectacle in Preston.

The annual nominating meeting of the Franklin County Fish and Game Association chose seven men to be voted on for four director positions. The December 8 banquet and dance at Preston High School gym runs 6:30 to 8:30 dinner and 9 to 12 dancing with booths and door prizes. Trustees Attend Sessions At ISC Pocatello Idaho
Trustees meet in a three day Idaho State College session in Pocatello. Dr O Ki Cutler and Phenor Edgiley join a Merit System for Teachers panel with Darrel and Riverdale participants. A tax on sales was tabled and two resolutions were voted. One calls for district wide voting of trustees and the other urges legislature to raise Idaho teacher salaries and offer voluntary social security 88-2 supplementation.

Family Fete Planned for Aged Father Cyrus Robbins in Rockland
The 83 year old Cyrus McCalister Robbins of Dayton will be honored on Thanksgiving at the LDS church in Rockland. His daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Norman Moss host a dinner program and social for nine children and grandchildren. Robbins, born November 21 1875 in Willard Utah, lived in Snowville Stone Dayton and finally Dayton since 1908. He married Sarah Ellen Hurd in 1904 Logan temple. she died 1930 leaving him both father and mother to their nine children.

Hinckley Wins Utah Power Award at University of Idaho
Stephen Clare Hinckley son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hinckley of Fairview was chosen by Utah Power and Light Co. staff to receive a $1260 scholarship from Standard Oil Co. of California.
