Sugar Beet Growers to receive 1952 checks in mid November
Checks totaling about 494 774 dollars will be mailed to 1952 beet growers for beets delivered in October and November. Initial payments are 11 dollars per ton plus 2 47 dollars from the PMA excise tax, totaling 13 47 per ton, with a final 62 cent per ton payment included for last year’s deliveries. Harvest ends by Nov 20 to 22 after a difficult year with low moisture and drought, yielding 11 tons per acre on average though some fields reached 15 to 20 tons. A public dinner in Prescott in December will discuss expanding 1953 beet acreage.

Perkins Dies After Long Illness At 79
Joseph Marion Perkins, 79, of 478 East Oneida, died Saturday night after a nine week illness. Born February 18, 1873 in Kaysville Utah, he was the son of Christopher C. and Eliza Robbins Perkins. He married Belle A. Bennett May 21, 1892 in Kaysville. she died June 10, 1909. He then married Nellie Bell December 13, 1911 in the Logan LDS temple.

Nine Year Old Boy Stricken By Polio In Fairview Area
Jeffrey Hyde nine son of Charles and Mrs Hyde of Fairview is the victim. He was taken to St Anthony hospital in Pocatello early Tuesday evening and remains under observation to determine the severity of his polio case.
