County Manpower Sought For Scrap Drive On Armistice Day
Preston Lions club members dedicate Armistice Day to hauling scrap to the Scrap Bank south of the Canning Center in Preston and urge farmers to contribute all metal. Farmers can have scrap hauled to Preston by calling Nos. 99 or 3, or deliver to Parley Shaffer at 58 South Second West Street for payment at $4 to $6 a ton. A 600 ton Franklin county quota exists with likely more scrap unused on farms, and locals are urged to notify by Wednesday for pre arranged rural pickups.

The Franklin County Stud Bull association directors met at Morgan Mitchell farm last Friday to approve buying two bulls from Harris Mickelson and Thain Bros. Both bulls are Man-O-War breed with high butterfat production. The board invites dairymen to visit Mitchell farm to inspect the bulls as part of the Stud Program.
