Five Mile watersheds project study under review

Mr Bergeson reports a study on the proposed Five Mile small watersheds project is near completion. Forest Service representatives from Malad and Bureau of Land Management personnel, with Soil Conservation Service input, will meet landowners to present findings and seek approval. If the group approves, an organization may be formed to fund construction and maintenance via a flood control or drainage district.

Scout Executive Promotion at Salt Lake Area Council

Ramon L. Sealy is promoted to Salt Lake Area Scout Executive for the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America. A Cache Valley native and Preston resident, he previously served as field and district executive in Cache Valley and the Smithfield Benson and Franklin counties. He is Logan High School and Utah State Agricultural College alumnus with extensive ROTC and service organization involvement.

M Naughton, president of Utah Power Co and head of the Salt Lake City Chamber, will speak at the Preston Chamber of Commerce harvest banquet held at the stakehouse Oneida. Young GOP group active during campaign week in Franklin County

The Young Republican League in Franklin County reports active GOP volunteers assisting with meetings and rallies. A Riverdale rally featured live music sponsored by the Smiths and Hendricks, with plans for a Cavalcade greeting Senator Herman Welker at the airport, a parade in Preston, and a visit to nearby communities.

Wool contest winners in district senior division at Pocatello

The district senior division Wool contest held in Pocatello Saturday honored Pauline Nash of Preston as top winner with a wool coat. Ann Miner of Driggs won junior division with a red wool crepe dress. Judy Hansen Blackfoot and Erlene Wright Dubois led the sub teen group.

Franklin County Canning Center Plans Early Closing Date

Franklin County canning center will close Friday November 16 for the 1956 season officials say. Patrons have used the new juicer to can tomato juice and apple sauce, with many cans and strong patron support noted from the Farm Bureau women and local contributors.

The Preston Rifle club will hold its big annual turkey shoot at the Don Whittle range near the new river bridge next Sunday. Iron sights only, no scopes. 30-06 ammunition provided for free by the club. The event is a long standing animal event and players may use a spinning wheel to win turkeys if enough participants join.

Four Hospitalized After Mink Creek Car Crash

A head on collision near Mink Creek left Nathaniel Keller and his wife Mrs. Keller hospitalized with leg and internal injuries. Their 10 year old son Robert sustained facial cuts and bruises. Both drivers were treated and released the same day. front end damage totaled $1,400.

Kiwanis Pancake Supper Plans For Election Day

The Preston Kiwanis Club plans a pancake supper at the Hansen Glass and Paint building between 4 and 10 p.m. Tickets cost 1 per family or 50 cents per person and are available from Kiwanis members or at the Hansen building. Proceeds support the club youth activities program. A television set and an automobile will be raffled as part of the event.

Preston Indians battled Marsh Valley in a rain soaked homecoming at Eagles field ending in a 14 14 tie. Dennis Hall and Dana Richardson made key interceptions while Bill Robinson scored for Preston. Rotary visit to boost Utah Idaho area clubs

The Preston Rotary Club prepares for an official visit by Rotary International district governor Ralph Millar to each Utah Idaho rotary club. Mir Evans will address the local city band and meet with club officers to discuss administration and service activities. Weston Youtt and Tingey Target Shooting Incident
