County Seniors To Graduate In Preston West Side

About 170 seniors will graduate May 2 from Franklin county high schools. Sen Frank Church will speak at Preston high school commencement and at a Preston Chamber lunch. West Side graduation features Dr Claude J Burtenshaw with 130 seniors.

Annual Fish and Game Banquet Planned for Saturday Night

The annual Fish and Game Association banquet will start at 7 p.m. in the Weston High School gym. The event draws about 400 attendees and includes tests, life films, and an election of officers following the program.

Work Day Set For Cemetery Cleanup In Oxford

Oxford volunteers return Saturday to plant new grass at the Oxford cemetery starting 8 am. Cluff Kendall says the village board sponsors the beautification project with help already donated, aiming to finish before Memorial Day. Workers have cleared brush, installed pipe and sprinklers, and replanting grass from last fall.

Three Seek Board Positions on Eastside School District

Three candidates seek seats on the Eastside district school board for Zone 4 and Zone 5. Incumbent Dr Murray C Nichols seeks Zone 4, while Dr Leo R Hawkes and Neil F Nelson vie for Zone 5. Election is May 23 from 3 to 8 pm with voting at Central and Jefferson schools.

Preston teen driver causes car crash into pole

A car driven by Cherie Carlson, 16, of Preston, veered on the Dayton road west of Preston and struck a telephone pole. The accident caused 300 dollars in damage to the vehicle. Passengers were Gayle Wright, 17, and Carl Haslam, 18.

Earl Meek 27 of Preston is in Holy Cross Hospital Salt Lake City in critical condition after a dust collector discharge at Monsanto in Soda Springs. Three others burned. Meek suffered a 90 percent body burn. he was flown from Caribou County Hospital.
