Clifton ward chapel to be dedicated in ceremonies Tuesday evening at 7 30. Harold B Lee of the council of the twelve LDS church will be present and offer the dedicatory prayer. Tuesday an open house will be held at the church and the public is invited.
The sixth army graves registration department directs removal of 40 ser vicemen bodies from a C-46 crash east of Preston. Snow hampers work. thawing has caused decomposition. Identifications will lead to burial in home towns. Soldiers will search the area. a snow plow clears Beaver canyon road to near the site. A civil aeronautics board representative is on scene.
Preston firm Ken's Electric Co starts its annual freedom fair featuring Westinghouse appliances. Kenneth Porter sponsors a game with free prizes for participants. Prizes awarded and event runs through the month starting tomorrow.
Preston High School trackmen finished second in the fifth district meet at Pocatello with 54 points, as Pocatello led with 77 points. The top three in each event qualified for the regional meet next Saturday at Pocatello. winners for Preston include Martin in the 100, Davis in the 220, Farnes in the 440, Benson in the half mile, and Davis in the 120 high hurdles.
A Preston man, James Duford, fell asleep and plunged 17 feet off an embankment near the airport road at 4 30 am injuring him severely. Wendell Woodhouse escaped serious harm after a wet curve caused his car to slide 225 feet and strike a utility pole. Milton Hatch of Oxford struck a year old heifer north of Preston, causing $125 damage with no injuries. Sheriff Talbot and Officer Ward investigated.
Bailey Brothers circus arrives for two shows in the rodeo arena next Wednesday with 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. performances. Lions Club sponsors fund local projects, gates open one hour early, no reserved seats first come first served. The act features aerial performances from 65 to 100 feet, unable to stage under canvas.
McCune Motor Company shows a replica gold and white Ford commemorative convertible for Ford’s 50th anniversary. Keith Christensen, the dealer manager, invites the public to view the display in the McCune showroom during Memorial Day period and the Indianapolis 500 festivities.
The Franklin County Fish and Game Association sponsors the annual magpie drive next Sunday. Sportsmen are urged to help control magpies and save pheasant stock by meeting at the ball park at 8 a.m. to take part in the west burning drive. A free lunch will follow the hunt.
Pfc. Wayne T. Cottle returns home after 25 months in a North Korean prison camp with first cavalry memories of capture near a ruined outpost. He describes harsh weather, a 300 mile march, mud huts, weight loss, and letters from family that kept morale high while exposed to harsh conditions and partial censorship.
The Franklin county grade school band with 90 players under Lynn Bright will perform Friday at 9 am in the high school auditorium. Soloists include Vance Hedin on trumpet and Riverdale and Whitney groups providing trumpet and piano pieces. Parents and the public are invited.
Dale DeGraff new owner of Preston Motor Sales plans a two day open house at 160 South State Street to showcase 1953 Pontiac models and GMC trucks. Orchids for visiting ladies, friendly community welcome, and intent to engage with local church and chamber activities announced.
