Severe Winter Cuts Idaho Fish Catches for Two Seasons
Idaho fish culturist James C. Simpson warns the 1949 winter and heavy snows will shrink mountain-stream fishing in the coming two seasons. Extreme cold froze many small streams, threatening fish life where flows dried to trickles. Larger fish in deeper pools may still provide some catches this season, but winter damage could reduce next year’s legal-sized fish by three inches or more.
