Idaho Cuts 1.5 Miles From Highway 34 Project
The Idaho State Highway Department announced a 1.5 mile reduction in the Grace to Preston segment of Highway 34. The project, initially planned for about 6.5 miles, will now span five miles ending near the Harrow Canyon mouth toward Treasureton Summit. O. L. Briggs Appears and Enters Not Guilty Plea in Murder Case
Arlo Gene Briggs alias Arlo Gene Tims was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Howard Bennett and pleaded not guilty to a murder charge. He is held in Franklin County Jail after extradition from Cache County for the February 10 slaying of his father. Attorney Robert Bennett was appointed to represent him. A preliminary hearing is set in about two weeks, with possible transfer to district court. The defense sought an evaluation at Idaho State Hospital, to be decided by the district court.
