NAM Urges 8 Billion Dollar Cut in 1958 Budget
The National Association of Manufacturers calls for an $8.2 billion reduction in the 1958 federal budget. It seeks $2.2 billion cut in foreign aid, $1.9 billion in military spending, and $4.1 billion in non military programs to bring total spending to $63.6 billion. The NAM argues cuts can preserve defense while trimming civilian costs and shifting more toward the states.
