The East Side district 201 school board met Monday and adopted a teacher salary schedule. Starting pay for a bachelor degree with no experience is 2500, with increments for experience and training, and a 100 dependency allowance. The district average rises to 2779, with total district increase about 9400. Supt Simmons authorized to seek architect input on building improvements as enrollment stresses primary grades.

Board Plans Spring Meetings on Education and Bus Service
The East Side district board will hold meetings in each attendance unit this spring to discuss improving the educational program bus service lunch program buildings and potential consolidation. They noted six to eight teachers beyond the state minimum and opposed district participation in the Moscow state music festival citing time and cost. A local district festival concert for winners was proposed. Love Pirates of Hawaii staged at Jefferson Junior High
Jefferson Junior High presented The Love Pirates of Hawaii to a large Friday night audience in the high school auditorium under Angus Condie. Miss Hyer directed dancing and Shields oversaw costumes. Lynn Bright led the orchestra with Douglas Palmer as concert master. About 170 junior high students participated. eighth grade girls danced, 927 boys formed the chorus, 51 girls in the girls chorus, and 33 in the junior high orchestra, with special numbers by Charles Kamanoha and BYU-affiliated sister and friend.
