Annexation measures open paths for Swan Lake and neighbors
The Idaho legislature approved three annexation bills allowing Swan Lake, Grace, and Bannock residents to vote in 1948 on seceding from Bannock county and joining Franklin or Caribou counties. Swan Lake would shift about 44 800 acres to Franklin, Grace about 128 000 acres to Caribou, with Whatcher Mound Valley and Oxford following earlier annexations to Franklin. Legislature members praised the changes despite opposition from Sen. Nellie Cline Steenson who warned of loss of land and facilities in Bannock county.

Fatal car crash takes young mother Edith Dalley
Edith Lucinda Goff Dalley aged 28 died in a Sunday afternoon crash near American Falls when a car driven by her husband Elbert Dalley went out of control and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The couple's daughter Diane was injured and their son Bruce unharmed. They had lived in Filer after moving from Preston and Dayton. Burial and funeral details followed under Bishop Ernest Eberhard leading services.

Death Comes Close From Injury Shock
Roy Walker a Jensen farm equipment dealer employee sustained the loss of ends of three fingers in a Tuesday night accident when a heavy overhead door palled down at the Jensen building on South State. He was rushed to the local hospital then revived at home by artificial respiration after losing consciousness. He showed signs of recovery Wednesday from the shock of the injury.

Mabel Davis Cutler Returned For Burial
Funeral services were held in Ogden for Mabel Davis Cutler wife of Samuel P. Cutler who died after a five month illness. She was born October 14 1891 in Preston and moved with her family to Great Falls Montana before returning to Utah. She served as matron at the Utah State Industrial School and is survived by her husband a son Deran a daughter Mrs Nedra Cole a brother Reese J Davis two sisters Anna G Hutchins and Adeline Moser and six grandchildren. Burial in Preston cemetery.
