Preston chamber officials and county and city representatives met with a large group of west side residents to review the Preston to Dayton and Clifton to Oxford road plan. Senator Heath shared a state highway letter noting 1953 work on two miles from Preston and a 1954 nine mile Dayton to Oxford segment. A west side committee was formed to meet with the state highway department for details.

Auctioneer Leland McLing called the sale outstanding as teams of horses and single horses sold well with teams reaching up to 250 dollars and singles to 140 dollars. killer market was 4 to 5 dollars per cwt.

West Side Cagers Rally Past Downey in Dual Wins
West Side High School defeated Downey in both varsity and junior varsity boys basketball at home on February 25. The varsity game ended 50 acting 32 in favor of West Side, led by Morris Helmandollar with 24 points and Wiley Callister with 14. Downey’s L Evans scored eight. The junior varsity game was decided by three points.

Myrtle Greaves Neeley 66 died Thursday at daughter’s home after a long illness. Born Preston October 27 1886 she married Ira L. Neeley in the Logan temple. Survivors include three daughters a son 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren with funeral services Monday in Oneiday stake house. Burial Preston cemetery.

Garth L Geddes received the Amy officer title after graduating with class 47 at Fort Benning Ga on February 20 19 J he earned honors as an outstanding graduate among 200 officers. He is the son of Mrs Lydia Lowe Geddes and the late Hugh L Geddes. His wife Nordeth Simmons Geddes lives in Collinston Utah. After a 15 day furlough he will take a new assignment Geddes attended Preston High School served a Mormon mission in New England and studied at USAC.

Cougar 149 Pounds Shot After Trail Across Canyon
A 149 pound cougar, first in years in the county, was tracked for two days then shot after being treed. Two Cars Damaged In Crash Near Preston
Yesterday at noon two cars collided one mile south of Preston. Driver Mrs Maylon Hollingsworth was southbound when she braked suddenly and Melvin Snyder struck the rear of her car. Neither occupant was seriously injured as the Hollingsworth vehicle suffered major rear damage and the Snyder car had a smashed radiator and a pushed back motor.
