Bear River Bear Lake project protects farms in Idaho Utah
Water users on the Bear River area expect drought relief thanks to high runoff and near record Bear Lake storage. Officials say Bear Lake will fill within a foot to a foot and a half of capacity, sustaining irrigation and power downstream. The project, begun by a UP and L predecessor, has stored floodwaters via Mud Lake for gravity flow into Bear Lake, preventing floods and saving crops valued in the millions historically.
