Conference Attracts 2000 Youth and Leaders to Preston
More than 2000 young people and leaders attended the Interstate Youth Conference concluding session in Preston. Elder Paul H. Dunn and Miss Betty Killpack spoke as the Explorer Rodeo attracted 2500 spectators at the Preston Rodeo grounds with roadshows, fashion shows, and films. Benson stake won multiple awards at the Road show festival, with Banida ward and Preston First ward earning top trophies. About 1600 youths were fed at Franklin and Oneida stake houses, with meals donated by Franklin County Grain Growers.

Stolen 1965 Thunderbird Linked to Local Youth Conference
A 1965 Thunderbird registered to Dolan Condie of Pres ne was stolen from near the Franklin Stake house during a Sunday youth conference. Condie’s son had driven the car to the event. Authorities from Idaho and Utah police, along with the FBI, are investigating possible ties to a teen murder case reported the day before.

Bishopric Named In Preston Sixth Ward
Elliot Smith a Preston farmer and dairyman was named bishop of the Preston Sixth ward Sunday. He succeeds Melvin Corbridge who served as bishop for four years.
