Jack Moser of Dayton was named Franklin County Grassman of the Year after a Preston Chamber tour. Sponsored by the Franklin County Soil Conservation District, Moser was lauded for land leveling drainage irrigation and efficient farm practices including a wastewater basin for grass and alfalfa. Reed McEntire of Preston was the other candidate, showcasing a 53 cow dairy with modern milking facilities and improved calf housing amid rotation pastures and irrigated fields.

Funeral Rites Today For Accident Victim Courtney Howell
Funeral services will be held in Whitney ward chapel for Courtney Howell 23 who died Monday after falling from a building under construction for Mountain Fuel Supply in Soda Springs at the 68 foot level. Howell employed by Ref-Chem Engineering and Construction fell about 30 feet onto a concrete slab at the 37 foot level. Survivors include his parents and several siblings. Services start at 1 p.m. Thursday with burial in Whitney Cemetery.

Two 17-Year-Olds Arrested For School Theft
Two county youths aged 17 were arrested within five days for theft at Preston high school. More than $500 in tools and supplies were stolen from the wood shop. One suspect was later charged with farm burglary. The pair also faced break in charges at White Pines Archery Club.
