Four University of Utah students from Preston will receive degrees among more than 1100 graduates in ceremonies on June 9. James Calvin Taylor earns law, David Frank Foss Jr economics, Beverly Jean Nielson Williams elementary education, Reed Bethapy Cutler pharmacy. Commencement begins at 6 15 p.m. with regents, faculty and graduates processing to the stadium bowl. Ceremonies continue at 7 p.m.

Son of R Campbell of Preston, he was among nine former sergeants awarded a commission as second lieutenant in a ceremony. East Side school board calls for bids to fund long overdue Central school upgrades. Superintendent W H Simmons announced plans on Wednesday evening, budgeting about 15000 dollars for a new front entrance heating system boiler controls updated toilets and roof replacement to modernize classrooms.

Two accidents Thursday and one Friday in the county led to two people hospitalized and seven others treated for minor wounds. The first crash occurred Thursday at 6 30 p m on Cleveland road about 20 miles north of Preston when a car failed to negotiate a curve and overturned. The driver was Eskil Floyd Porter.

Ivan Davis, Preston High all-star in football basketball baseball and track, receives the annual outstanding athlete award from the Preston Quarterbacks Club. Davis holds the school record for most athletic letters with 12, starred on state runner-up teams, earned all state honors as junior and senior, led relay and broad jump, starred at end on football champions, and will play in Idaho all star basketball games in Jerome Pocatello Idaho Falls.
