Missing in Action Captain Geddes Reported
Word reached relatives in Logan and Preston that Captain Joseph W. Geddes has been missing in action since May 21. Born September 25, 1915 in Preston, he lived in Logan from youth and served as a Liberator bomber pilot and technical inspector. He is the son of Dr and Mrs Joseph A Geddes of the USAC and nephew of Mr and Mrs Ray Merrill of Preston.

Red Cross Finds No Trace of Aviator Maylon Peterson
Parents of Maylon B Peterson, Mr and Mrs Leo Peterson, were notified that no trace had been found of their son. A Red Cross report said a thorough search had been conducted after Maylon enlisted in the air corps before the war and was stationed in the Philippines before capture by the Japanese. The family had hoped for news from China that he was a prisoner of war. Last contact was about a year and a half ago when a letter spoke of efforts to return to the continent.

Auto collision injures Matilda Smith at Fairview
Mrs. Matilda Smith of Fairview remained seriously injured after a Sunday afternoon crash at the Fairview store intersection. Her son Richard Smith drove the car. a 16 year old Ogden, Utah boy, Richard Cunningham, drove a V-8 coupe from the south. The impact sent both cars about 106 feet down the highway. seven Cunningham passengers ages 13 to 15 received treatment for severe lacerations.
