Missile Arrives For Preston Jubilee Kickoff

The US Air Force Titan HIJC mockup arrived in Preston on Wednesday for the three day Franklin County Jubilee tied to the Preston Night Rodeo. Events include children's and rodeo parades, a grand parade, a senior citizens outing, a cooking demonstration, marching contest, a B 57 and C 124 flyover, and a square dance sponsored by Ramble 8.

New Times Announces Three Parades for Jubilee and Rodeo

Three big parades are planned this weekend for the Franklin County Jubilee and Famous Preston Night Rodeo. The Saturday children's parade runs at 2 pm with 30 to 40 units, and Thursday and Friday parades start at 6 pm. Parades follow established routes past the Snooty Cat to First East and Second South, with the Rodeo route extending east to First East and Oneida Street.

Rangers Plan Annual Tour and Area Events

The Idaho section of the American Society of Range Management announces its annual tour with a horseback trip August 4 over the Cub River Allotment east of Preston. The day includes range activities, a sponsored lunch, and a steak dinner. Contact Jack Adams by July 29 to join. bring your own horse if possible. The second day covers a car and pickup ride across ranges north of Soda Springs led by Ranger Roy Daniels.

Census Begins Shelter Count in Franklin County Hire

About 340 Idaho residents are hired as interviewers for the Home Fallout Protection Survey. Local workers include Sonya Christensen Mink Creek Ida Beth Denton Helen B Jensen Dorothy H Packer and Rulon W Winward Preston. Interviewers wear official badges and oath to confidentiality. Householders answer brief questions on dwelling construction as data is processed by a modern Census Bureau computer.

Cooking School Planned Here

A two day cooking school will be held at the Oneida stake center on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Preston Seventh Ward Relief Society and staged by Utah Power and Light Company there is no charge. Mrs Marguerite Lindquist will direct with Richard Bowman assisting, featuring demonstrations on meal preparation freezing tips and other items. Door prizes and food samples will be given.

Wheat program payments set for Franklin county farmers

Wheat farmers in Franklin county will receive 603000 dollars in 1967 program payments after August 1. About 650 growers, led by Blaine Gamble, will get certificates valued at 1.36 dollars per bushel to cover 35 percent of their 1967 wheat acreage. The program supports parity for domestic use and aids marketing income while backing loans to shelter prices in world markets.

Barton Hungate named manager of Blocks store in Preston replacing Deloy Palmer who becomes manager of Blocks Blackfoot store. Hungate previously joined Blocks earlier and has ties to the Junior Chamber.
