The 42nd Preston Night Rodeo runs July 28–30 with top PRCA and Wilderness Circuit cowboys. D.A. Kerby produces in West Jordan Utah as fans anticipate team roping plus famed events, parades, and thrills in a fast paced rodeo show.

Preston City Receives 512000 In EDA Water Line Funds

Preston will receive 512000 from the Economic Development Administration for a new water line. The city earlier targeted 440000, increased by 12000 to 512000 after a funding revision. Phase one plans call for four miles from Bergquist Springs through Forest Service land with bids soon.

Porter Hall Fire Damages West Side High School

Fire largely destroyed Porter Hall at West Side High School with flames bursting from the southwest band storage area. Franklin County Volunteer Firemen responded after neighbors reported smoke around 9 07 p m. Damage estimates range up to 100000 with heavy smoke damage. bystanders removed much of the contents before fire crews arrived. The hall, named for former superintendent Lyle Porter, housed band and storage facilities and was separated from classrooms. Firefighters remained through the night searching for hot spots.

Entries Stacking Up For Preston Night Rodeo Parades

Entries for Preston Night rodeo parades rise to 60 70 with final commitments. Parades run 6 30 p m each night starting First North Street east to First East south to Second South west to State Street up to Second North where they end. STATE AUDITOR Joel Williams named grand marshal for Saturday parade and Gov Evans eyed for other nights. Parade organizers urge groups to enter, contact Dennis Pope and committee members for lineup numbers.

Senior Citizens Dinner Set at American Legion Hall

Delmar Derricott of the Forest Service reports an irreplaceable sign at the Cub River Birch Creek road fork was vandalized and stolen. The large sign, valued at several hundred dollars, was taken around June 29. The Senior Citizen dinner will be held Saturday at noon at the American Legion Hall and all seniors in the area are invited.

Fifth Annual Oldtimers Roundup Set Saturday July 30

The Fifth Annual Homecoming or Oldtimers Roundup will be held July 30 from 1 to 5 pm at the new Preston South Stake Center with outdoor jazz from Salt Lake City musicians. The program starts at 1 pm inside the Stake Center after a park performance near the Dr Joseph M Thomas flagpole.
