Preston to Host 42nd Famous Night Rodeo and Parades
Tickets go on sale Saturday at 9am for the 42nd Preston Night Rodeo at Rodeo Headquarters in the Swainston Mill and Cabinet Building. Reserved seats are 3.50, general admission 2.50 adults, 1 for children, with special child rates Thursday and senior rates Friday. Three nightly PRCA performances run with three parades at 6:30pm and a City of Fun carnival. Gov. John Evans is asked to grand marshal the eight-block parade route. Johnny Tatum, famed rodeo clown and bullfighter, headlines the event alongside local stock and boosters.

Steers Starved Found Dead in Foothill Corral East of Preston
Two steers valued at 300 dollars each were found dead in a hillside corral east of Preston. Sheriff Ar lando Larsen said the owner Frank Johnson reported the animals were herded into the enclosure and left without feed until they died. The incident was reported June 28.

Deep Creek brush fire near Clifton linked to power line
Preston volunteer firefighters responded to a brush fire in the Deep Creek area east of Clifton last week. The blaze started from a broken power line and no damage was reported.

Lakes to be dredged to channel water south
Jack Moser company president says lakes will be dredged to let water from the north lake flow into the south lake for use. Two pumps on Bear River pump into company canals but only half the water reaches the west side. Pumping costs run about $17,000 a month with all three pumps operating.
