The Preston Chamber of Commerce announces hydroplane and runabout races in eight classes will run Sunday at 1 30 p m on the north lake with stock outboard championship heats from the American Power Boat Assn Also planned are concession stands and admission 50 cents with free entry for under 12 Those at last event expect a large turnout similar to the near 1000 cars that attended when weather forced cancellation last month

Weston Pioneer Day Celebration Returns with Parade and Events

Weston resumes its annual Pioneer Day on July 24 with a 10 am parade followed by a patriotic meeting at 11 am. Afternoon events include a Dayton versus Preston baseball game, children and pony races, free sports, and an 8:30 pm rodeo and grandstand entertainment with concessions.

Idaho state highway department interviewers will extend the motor vehicle use survey from Magic Valley to Pocatello and Upper Snake River Valley this week. Bell earns man of the week at Boeing Renton plant

At the Boeing plant in Renton Washington inspector Mr Bell proposed painting station numbers on wing spars to prevent loss of grease pencil markings. The stencil solution saved time and effort, earning him a substantial cash award and a chance at the man of the month title. Bell hails from Mink Creek and is the son of Sweet Bell of Preston.

The Franklin County Flower and Garden Club held a Monday Rose Fair with floral displays by Mrs. Rose Olsen. Pres J. Local Contingent Off for Jamboree At Valley Forge

Some 25 000 Army tents were erected for the fourth National Boy Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge Pennsylvania from July 12 to 18 for 60 000 scouts and leaders. Approximately 65 scouts and leaders left Franklin county and Cache Valley boarding a plane in Salt Lake City July 7 arriving in Chicago that evening. They toured Buffalo Palmyra New York and New York City before Valley Forge encampment and a return flight July 21. Barbara Johnson Begins European Study Tour

Miss Barbara Johnson daughter of Mr and Mrs Jesse Johnson of Preston joins a BYU travel and study tour in Europe. She departed Salt Lake City June 21 by bus to New York and June 27 by plane for Edinburgh Scotland. The itinerary includes England France Germany Holland Belgium Switzerland Spain Italy Austria and Monaco. Johnson attended BYU two years and has worked for the telephone company locally. She expects to return the last week of August.

Stations Burglarized Here and in Franklin

The station operated here by Max Norton was burglarized last night and about $50 in cash taken, according to Chief Harold Campbell. Thieves also entered a service station in Franklin, but no details could be obtained. The North State location was entered through an unlocked rear window and cash was the only apparent loss.

Mrs Milo Hobbs Trip Ends With Planned Surgery

Mrs Milo Hobbs and her son Klayne returned from Los Angeles after visiting her sister Mrs Aldyth Ramos. Klayne was scheduled for major surgery Monday at Dee Hospital in Ogden, marking his 13th operation.
