They toppled Malad Dragons 60-37 on Friday at home, while junior varsity lost in overtime to Malad JV. West Side High School hosted a March of Dimes presentation led by Mrs. Bert Sutton and a representative from Franklin County. The event occurred Wednesday afternoon in the ward recreational hall during a West Side-Malad game and featured four county officers, the junior and senior high students, and two polio victims on crutches. Silver Star Awarded to Local Marine in Korea Action
Lt Homer Johnson of Preston is cited for conspicuous gallantry during a July 23 1952 Korean War patrol. He directed an assault on a fortified position exposed to heavy fire while locating a missing comrade and later led a patrol to recover the body. His actions earned the Silver Star and he was promoted to first lieutenant last December. His wife LaRae and their young daughter visited his parents in Preston this month.
