Sharp Returns From Korean Duty Aboard USS Hubbard
Joseph T. Sharp commissaryman seaman USN son of D. L. Sharp Preston Route 3 is scheduled to arrive in January aboard the destroyer USS Harry E. Hubbard. Hubbard operated with Task Force 77 as a screening vessel while launching daily air strikes against communist targets in North Korea and supported bombardments with USS Los Angeles and USS Missouri. Rites Held Monday For Margaret Lund
Margaret Lucy Baker Lund aged 67 of Preston died Thursday after a long illness. Born March 20, 1885, she was the daughter of Benjamin C. and Lucy Evans Baker. She married Charley E. Land in Logan on March 18, 1903 and lived in Preston Passa 1902. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as an officer and teacher in Relief Society. Surviving are four of nine children Fred B. Lund Leonard B. Lund and Mrs Ila Baker of Preston and Mrs Thelma Howell of Whitney 23 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, plus a sister and three brothers Lucella Hancock of Pocatello and Charles W. Baker. Cancer education drive trains Idaho workers in early diagnosis
The American Cancer Society hosted a two day school at the Bannock hotel in Pocatello with 134 workers learning danger signals and the value of routine exams. Mrs. Grant Hess led the event with local doctors including Dr. D R Paull of Idaho Falls. Certificates were awarded to Dr A M Popma and Mrs Estus Packer as long service contributors. A new film Living Insurance debuted and a year round campaign was urged.

Hollywood makeup artist Hal Rodman demonstrated portraits in makeup for students and teachers at West Side High School. Using volunteers from the audience he portrayed Robbie White as a grade school boy, a college freshman, and an old man. He created a period barber shop quartet look with hats and mustaches. Born January 27 1895 in Clarkston Utah son of Peter Bivand and Mary Ann Goodey McCombs he married Ruby Smith in 1928 and later Mertha Biggs in 1943. Survived by wife five children and many relatives. Kenneth Bower Dies After Major Operation
Kenneth Bower 38, of Fillmore Utah and a former Prestony resident, died Monday in a Salt Lake City hospital after a major operation. Born November 13, 1914, in Lava Hot Springs, he was the son of George and Clara Campbell Bower. He married Merle Hunsaker in 1939 in the Logan LDS temple. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Green River Wyoming after graduating from Utah State Agricultural College in 1940.
