West Side High Band Uniform Fund Reaches Goal
Students officials and PTA report a highly successful drive to raise funds for new band uniforms at West Side High School. About 1200 dollars was collected with styles and fabrics chosen. The drive was aided by volunteers and Preston merchants. The school board band students and PTA officers met to select styles and fabrics for completion.

Hog Pool Sets Record Prices in Franklin County
The Franklin County Live Stock Marketing Assn held a hog pool on January 12 shipping 218 hogs to Arch McFarland & Sons in Salt Lake City. Tops sold for 16 dollars per hundredweight totaling 6,200.80. Of 216 hogs, 184 were tops, combined weight 48,340 pounds, association receipts 7,480.01. Next pool set for January 25 with listing deadline January 21.

Blizzard Birth Brought Baby to Clifton Home
Mrs. O. E. Anderson delivered a seven pound baby boy in the family car during a raging blizzard on the way to Preston. The infant spent 45 minutes in the vehicle before being brought to the Panter home where mother and child were later returned to Clifton.

Thomas Boyle manager of the Idaho state employment service in Preston said today the office is preparing to handle applications from people wishing to be employed as census enumerators for the population count in Franklin county beginning in April. Men and women aged 21 to 55 with a high school education or equivalent are invited to contact the ISES office at 26 West Oneida street. Wages average 8 dollars per day plus five cents per mile for use of their automobile. Written tests will be given and appointments made from test grades. applicants will be notified by postcard where and when tests will be held.

Ether Rawlings Dies at 86 in Fairview Civic Leader
Ether Rawlings 86 of Fairview longtime Franklin county resident died at home on Wednesday. A former president of the Fairview town board and long serving county school board member his death followed age related causes. Born Nov 9 1863 in Burbidge Wilshire England he came to the United States in 1867 with his family settling first in Salt Lake City then Logan where his father oversaw LDS farm work. He settled in Fairview in 1877 and married Loretta Inglet in 1889 then Sanny Helena Jacobsen in 1910. At death he was a Franklin Stake high priest and directed River Irrigation Co. Funeral details slated for Saturday.
