Subsistence Pay Set For Farm Training Veterans
Veterans enrolled in on the farm training program receive subsistence payments under the Servicemen's Re-adjustment Act of 1944 as amended. Monthly grants run 67.50 for single veterans, 93.75 with one dependent, and 97.50 with two or more dependents, continuing while progress and classroom attendance are satisfactory. Overpayments occur if farm income exceeds 240, 270, or 290 dollars per month per veteran depending on family status.
Veterans Affairs to Deduct Overpayments From Subsistence
Officials state that any overpayment will be recovered by the Veterans Administration if not paid in cash. Farm income for veterans is to be determined from a full set of financial records each veteran must maintain.
