County Herd Improvement Group sets 1954 butterfat record
Franklin county dairy herds reported an average 429.2 pounds of butterfat per cow for 1954, with 33 member herds testing and 304 cows completing a 12 month record. The association averaged 11,811 pounds of milk per cow and 3.63 fat per cow, while 93 cows were culled and 33 members used milking machines.

One Day Weed School Set for Tuesday in Franklin County
County Agent Daniel Roberts announced a one day program on weed control at 2 p m Tuesday in the basement of the Franklin County courthouse. Howard B Roylance extension agronomist for the University of Idaho will review weed control findings from Idaho and western stations and discuss water management for canals and irrigation ditches. He invites business groups selling weed control chemicals, spray operators, canal company groups and farmers of Franklin County to attend any phase of weed control.

Fire at Woodwards Injures Three Men
A blaze at the Cecil Woodward and Sons farm last Thursday morning injured three men. Paul Woodward suffered second degree burns to his face and hands, Boyd Woodward was burned on the face, and Cecil Woodward was overcome by smoke and ill for days. All are treated at the Preston clinic. Ivan H. Woodward will teach in Paul Woodward’s place in the preree school for an indefinite time.
