The Preston Sixth ward was dissolved Sunday with members assigned to the First and Second wards. some First ward members moved to the Eighth ward to balance three wards under Franklin stake presidency. The Sixth ward, about 313 members, meets in the Second ward building after a furnace incident filled the chapel with smoke and ash.

Fire Destroys Machine Shop at Grace Ranch
Fire destroyed a large machine shop at the Elvin Hubbard ranch in Niter, with a tractor also damaged while an employee worked nearby. Quick action by Grace fire department saved all other buildings in the yard.

History of Preston Sixth Ward Church Formation and Chapel
The Preston Sixth ward formed in 1920, first meeting in 1921 at the Carnegie Library. It moved to the Blue Villa, then to the Arthur W Hart lawn, and finally to the log Second ward chapel before the 1926 Sixth ward building, completed in 1930. Alma Monson ordained bishop in 1924, supervising log timbering for the chapel with A D Henderson as overseer. Walter Rawlings succeeded in 1929 and completed grounds beautification. Heber J. Grant dedicated the chapel on June 29, 1930.

Rep. Ellis Johnson of Preston drew laughter from colleagues in Boise as he defended his winemaking hobby and stance for table wine sales in grocery stores. A former county Republican official urged his resignation while Johnson told peers that wine from California and a Viennese connection inspired his craft. First Clifton Girl Annie Eldridge Dies at 92
Funeral services were held for Mrs Annie Phillips Eldridge the first girl born in Clifton. She died in Los Angeles after living there 40 years. Eldridge celebrated her 92nd birthday on January 15 and was a Dayton pioneer. She was the daughter of Thomas Joseph Phillips and Sarah Boden and mother to 12 children.

Vandals Strike Preston Airport. Reward Offered
A phone booth telephone was smashed and airport office windows broken during Monday night or Tuesday morning at Preston airport. Sheriff Ar lando Larsen and Police Chief Danald Austin blame vandals. A sizeable reward, offered through the state aeronautics board, aims to catch those responsible for potential thousands of dollars in equipment damage. The stop sign at the airport was also chopped down with a hatchet that same night.

Farmers Can Count On Money Supply
Northwest farmers and ranchers can count on a normal supply of farm mortgage credit in 1967 says Fred A. Knutsen president of The Federal Land Bank of Spokane at the Preston federation meeting. He cites improved money markets easing lending restraints from 1966 and notes loan volume reaching over 94 million last year and a 423 million loan account with a 5 percent stock dividend near 1.3 million. He says the current 6 percent loan rate is the lowest in the competitive market and praises the land bank system as a major 20th century business success.

Governor to Study BR Project Site
