Pie-eaters Gulp Down Cherry Pie on Washington Birthday

About 100 pie-eating fans gathered in downtown Preston for a Pie-Eating Contest Royale on Washington Birthday. Dr. George Bard won the celebrity bracket in 1 minute 45 seconds. youngsters and VIPs competed, with winners in age groups and a total fundraising of about $50 for the March of Dimes and Primary Children’s Hospital.

Westerberg Defeats Allocation Of Tax Break For Rich

Preston City Council to Meet Tonight at 7

The Preston City Council will convene at 7 o clock in the City Council chambers. Items on the agenda include dog problems seniors budget planning and zoning a proposed parking lot near the former city park and the citys fire rating. Reports are due from the fiscal agent and consulting engineer Wendell Smith.

Preston South Stake Conference Schedule Details

The Preston South Stake Conference will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Stake Center on the corner of Second East and Second South. The general session starts at 10 am Sunday with President Paul C Woodward presiding and conducting. Saturday’s session begins at 30 pm with all high councilors, executive secretaries and clerks, priesthood quorum presidents, unit and group leaders and secretaries, bishoprics and their wives invited.

Preston issued three permits in January totaling 40 000 dollars. One permit covers a new dwelling unit while two are for additions and repairs. The January 1975 figure far exceeds January 1974’s 10 000 dollars.

Sant, chairman of the Near River RC&D Weed Committee, invites all weed fighters to a February 25 meeting at Mountain Fuel Auditorium Lopat. Dean Abrams Receives Silver Beaver Honor in Cache Valley

Franklin County Commissioner Dean Abrams was one of five local men to receive the Silver Beaver award from the Cache Valley Council Boy Scouts of America at the annual meeting in Logan. Abrams noted for 25 years of service includes merit badge counseling, district camping chair duties, executive board work, and leadership roles in church and community groups.
