The annual Preston Police report shows 88 arrests total with 262 traffic citations in 1970. Adults numbered 43 and 4 juveniles. common charges included shoplifting and public intoxication. Traffic data lists speeding and stop sign violations. patrols covered 41 195 miles and 9 969 hours.
The Franklin district Boy Scouts of America will host Scout O Rama Saturday from 6 30 to 8 30 p m at Preston high school gym. Booths by Cub and Scout units plus Explorer posts must be ready with boys by 6 15 p m. Units may set up from 3 p m with judging and color streamers blue red and yellow to mark the event.
Jefferson Middle School Preston will present the Broadway musical comedy 7.4 Abner. Acting principal Blair Henderson announces the show with Kyle Shipley in the lead and Eda Smith Fonda Bodily assisting. Mervin Sharp and Larry Biggs head scenery with faculty help as students learn songs like Namely You and If I Had My Druth ers.

Richard Umbel of Pres ton won the $5 prize in the Preston Citizen Identify the Merchants contest last week. The promotion highlighted 49 merchants pictured in a special edition. Umbel correctly identified all 49 and six others who would receive cherry pies as runners up.
A school advisory committee and the district board discussed a bond funded grade school program on Tuesday. Nine potential sites were discussed and more recommendations are expected. Committee members include Bryce Jensen Rasmussen Dr David Buckstead Don Workman Veil M Christiansen Kay Anderson Lynn Pearce Nancy Pearce Bill Ashlee and others from the five district school zones.
Jay McKenzie was hired last week as the probation officer for three counties under the Sixth district juvenile division. He will base in Preston and work one day weekly in Caribou and Oneida counties, with Bear Lake County added if the program expands.
