John Sheldon Doney 59 died after a stroke at his Franklin home on Thursday February 4 at 6 p m He was born in Franklin June 30 1894 and married Luella Olsen in the Logan LDS temple They had one son Jeddie who died at 17 Doney served as LDS missionary in 1916 1918 and held multiple local offices including mayor and school board member He was a farmer and dairyman and a member of the high priests quorum Surviving are his widow and five siblings Funeral services were held Monday at the Franklin ward chapel with various speakers and musical numbers.

Indian Students To Visit Preston In New Exchange
Preston High scholars host Navajo youths from Brigham City in a three day visit arranged by the Preston Chamber of Commerce education committee chaired by Herman J Richards. The Indian students arrive at 9 in the morning and will tour facilities and attend classes. In March Preston youths will visit Brigham City for three days to learn about Navajo education and school life. The party also included Mrs Richards Elda Carlson Mr and Mrs Don Elwell and Max Norton. The Brigham City school has about 2300 students aged 12 to 18 and starts with no English. Other committee members are W H Simmons Reed Brenchley P H Edgley and Dr O R Cutler.

Range Stockmen Elect Directors For 1954
Members of the Cub River Stockmen’s association elected three directors for 1954 at their February 6 meeting in the Franklin county courthouse. Re-elected were Ben F. The group discussed range reseeding water development and livestock control fencing to improve watershed conditions and cattle handling on the forest allotment in cooperation with the Forest Service. Cancer Society Starts Campaign in Franklin County

Peter M. Ostergar Dies in Las Vegas
Peter M. Ostergar aged 85 died Wednesday at his son Oliver's home in Las Vegas Nevada where he wintered. Born in Denmark he came to America at age 20 and married Elna Carlson in 1899. An active LDS member he taught ward duties for 43 years. He and Elna had 11 children with six living Oliver James Ione Lawrence Rigby Allen Edna Jensen and Victor. Funeral services will be held Monday in the Clifton ward chapel.
