Idaho Highway 34 Preston Grace section to start 1970

Idaho State Department of Highways announced the final 7.5 mile segment of the Preston Grace highway on Highway 34 will be in the 1970 construction program from Treasureton summit to Cleveland. The remodeling project spans about ten years with right of way acquisition and final engineering needed before work begins.

Christmas Decorating Contest Winners Named By Preston Citizen

Clair Hollingsworth of North State won the sweepstakes in the annual Christmas Decorating contest sponsored by Utah Power and Light and the Preston Citizen. Winners include Donald Phippen in veterans, Walter Ross in novice, Nathan Hale in window, Ross Furniture in store division, with multiple second and third place finishers across divisions.

Mountain Bell completes rural line improvements in Idaho

Mountain Bell finishes a 500000 dollar Rural Improvement Program project adding underground cable and four party lines for 725 farm subscribers. Sixty miles of cable were buried enhancing storm resistance and beautifying rural areas. The RIP aims to cut party lines to four and support Idaho growth through 1969.

Police Study Five Burglaries In November Report

Preston police investigated three residential burglaries two business burglaries and two vandalism complaints during November Also one theft of a log chain was reported Officers patrolled 3453 miles and logged 793 hours Twenty two traffic citations were issued five accidents were investigated Auxiliary worked 82 percent hours Nine drunk arrests five misdemeanor cases and two disturbances of the peace were recorded In business checks 14 doors and windows were found open Michael Alan Shaw son of Mr and Mrs Byron Shaw of Grace was accidentally electrocuted Thursday night at the family home when he touched a nail to a live socket.

Police Chief Warns te Drink, Drivin

Police Chief Bert Gailey warned this week that steps will be taken to curb drunk driving during the holidays. He cited parties and winter weather as factors raising the local accident curve and urged restraint to prevent holiday traffic problems.
