Idaho Selective Service chief Brigadier General M G McConnel announced that 2-A and 2-B classifications must go to mandatory appeal boards without registrant or employer requests. Three new appeal boards will review about 17 000 cases in Idaho with boards at Boise Pocatello and Lewiston. Pre Pearl Harbor family men remain largely unaffected. only nondeferrable occupation cases face changed induction rules.

No Vacation For Preston Schools In 1943
The first all grades of the Preston schools dismiss this Friday afternoon December 17 and return Monday January 3. Upper classes from seventh grade to high school seniors stay in class until Friday December 24, then resume study Monday December 27 with no further holiday. Rural schools receive no holiday according to Supt Welland Smith.

Whole student bodies in all schools will be dismissed during the October beer vacation as upper and lower grades both are affected. The holiday week will see schools closed while activities pause for the break.

At a Southeastern Idaho extension agents meeting in Pocatello on Tuesday Mr Craner asked about Idaho potato seed for 1944 planting. He notes a definite reduction in seed potatoes this year due to disease and urges farmers to buy within two months. Seed potatoes near Ashton and the Teton basin will be hard to obtain and may rise in price if not purchased soon.

Christmas Service at Preston Church Draws Attendees
