Choir Wins Grand Prize in Citizen Subscription Drive
Steven Stocks surged from near bottom to win the top salesman prize in the Citizen subscription contest. The choir as a group earned 300 dollars, about 600 short, while failing to check in cost 3100 points. Debbie Moser placed second, Scott Thompson third, with Kelly Nash and Lisa Gilbert fourth and fifth.

Massive Winter Storm Hits Franklin County Spreads Snow and Disrupts Schools
A multi day storm dumped up to a foot of snow across Franklin County causing drifting and school closures in West Side and Grace districts. Eastside kept classes but buses from Winder Banida ran late due to road conditions. Strong winds Sunday closed roads in Weston Linrose area, delaying pickups. The thaw began Tuesday as warm winds reduced snow. An American Party District 32 meeting is set for Montpelier Dec 9 with local candidates.

Franklin County residents upset at not being able to pick up Christmas tree permits in Preston may see a temporary office set up for Preston convenience. Adrian Dalton said the Montpelier office has received many complaints and a temporary site could be arranged to issue permits locally.

Snow Storm Spurs A Week of Local Auto Accidents
A four day period after a major snowstorm produced 13 fender bender crashes from Mink Creek to Weston Malad Road. The incidents ranged from minor scrapes to two dozen hundred dollar damages with six in one day in Preston. Notable cases included a van collision in the Preston High School lot, a speeding fine in a tagged pickup, and a Thanksgiving road accident that killed a cow after a Mink Creek collision.

Santa Returns December 13 In Preston Activities
Santa Claus will visit Preston Saturday December 13 for chats and color 5X7 photographs at Inkleys with proceeds to benefit Franklin County Hospital Nursing Nome Auxiliary. Picture times are 10 to noon and 2 to 4 pm. A free matinee of Challenge For Robin Hood starts at 1 pm at Grand Theatre with a possible second showing if crowd size requires.
