Burglars smashed a rear door at Johnson Drug Store early Sunday and stole an eight track stereo system cash from the register and about 100 Nembutal tablets. Loss including door damage totals 700 to 800 dollars as two youths were seen in the store and later arrested.
A nationwide Sales Management study finds Franklin County households increasingly fall in middle and upper income brackets. In the county 30.5 percent earn 5,000 to 8,000 after taxes, 16.0 percent 8,000 to 10,000, and 16.1 percent over 10,000, with 59.6 percent above 5,000 disposable cash. The shift reflects rising costs and a five year trend of gains outweighing disadvantages.
Ted Roper, president of the Cache Valley Dairy Association, announces a cash dividend of about $30,000 for dairy farmer members. Checks mailed November 26. The group notes high cheese milk prices and hopes to attract younger dairymen to expand herds as demand for Cache Valley Cheese remains strong.
Questions on water rights are invited as Water Administration meets at the Franklin County Courthouse on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 1 p.m. A representative will explain existing water units and assist with applications and related matters.
Franklin county’s Jeep Patrol was called to search for missing hunters twice over the weekend. The first case involved Sherman Stokes who became lost in Cottonwood during a snowstorm and fog, with his companions locating him after firing rifles. A six-member advance team met the group at Swan Lake, and the search was called off. The second case involved J Henry Olsen and a teenage dog near Downey, with a Jeep patrol forming a search party to bring the youths out on snowmobiles. The search faces deep Cottonwood terrain and uncertain vehicle recovery before spring.
A Swiss evening featuring Miss Zoë Zogg opens tonight in the Preston auditorium. The native of Switzerland will show a film of her country, speak briefly, answer questions, and share dances and foods. She plans to travel to Minnesota next semester for further study.
The Franklin County Fish and Game Association will hold its monthly meeting at 8 p.m. on December 7 in the Utah Power and Light Company Auditorium. A new Fish and Game film will be shown and a member of the Idaho Fish and Game Department will be present to answer questions. The meeting is open to the public.
