Preston Night Rodeo Sees Higher Gate and Attendance

That famous Preston Night rodeo closed Saturday despite wind and rain, with gate about $500 higher than last year and seating over 4000. Rich mond took top floats in the parade, while the Preston Phi Dels won the marching corps, Highland Lassies the street marching, and the West Side Piretters the most improved marchers trophy. About 92 cowboys competed, with a purse about $375 larger than prior years.

Court Rules Against Cache Dairy in Antitrust Suit

A Utah federal jury awarded Edwin Gossner and his firm 380000 against Cache Valley Dairy Assn in Ogden. The verdict found Federated Dairy Farms not liable and cleared Cache Valley of conspiracy or monopoly charges. Judge Christen may formalize judgment next week after a seven week trial.

Opposition Voices At Soda Springs Hearing On Idaho Constitution

A Soda Springs hearing on Idaho's revised constitution drew opposition to a proposal letting the governor appoint state officials instead of voters. Attending were Rep. Patricia L. McDermott Sen. Bear River water talks push for quick three state talks

Representatives from Idaho Utah and Wyoming met in Preston to urge immediate negotiations on final division of Bear River flows. The motion to begin talks was unanimously supported by Bear River Water Users groups and backed by leaders from Caribou Oneida Franklin Bear Lake and Cache counties with state officials in attendance.

License Plate Sales To Be Staggered

Staggered vehicle licensing will roll out at Marlowe Funk assessors offices. The system applies to passenger cars and pickups under 8000 pounds. Fees for stickers will be monthly prorated by vehicle age. One tenth of licenses will expire on the last day of each month except December.

Youth Meet Schedules Twelve Workshops at Cache Conference

Twelve workshops are planned for the Cache Regional Youth Conference at Sky View High School this weekend. Speakers include J Duffey Palmer and Dan Workman, with sessions on religion science finances and relationships. A banquet concert and dance follow Saturday sessions. Sunday includes priesthood and girls sessions with several stake leaders and MIA board members.

Preston Chamber Launches $40,000 Industrial Drive

The Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation and the Preston Chamber of Commerce plan a $40,000 drive to fund county industrial development. J. Walter Ross said two prospects exist, one seeking the old Peyton plant, with SBA loans and bank financing to back expansion plans. Efforts aim to attract November production and involve remodeling the recondenser plant to suit new industry.

Franklin County Fair Entries Sought for August Show

County fair officials urge area residents to prepare exhibits for the Franklin County Fair on August 19 and 20. Canning, jellies, jams, and home baking must be in by August 19 with special hours on August 18 and 19. Judging starts Tuesday afternoon and continues Wednesday. two older age classes for sweepstakes have been combined due to ribbon limits.
