In Preston Idaho, Mayor Dunn won re election by a 782 to 714 margin over R B Gibson. Wayne Evans was reelected to the city council with 830 votes to 645 for Donald Elwell. Sixty one year old navy veteran Hogmery won a council seat with 811 votes to Elvin Cutler 60. Voter turnout reached about 1,493.

Preston district meat judging team led by Eugene Hall's high score at Milo's Saturday. Malad residents finished second and West Side placed third. McCune Motor Co team claimed the Elks bowling league championship for the year after a playoff victory in Logan on Monday evening. The win came over the Corner cafe team from Preston. Firemen Called To Poole Farm Fire North Of Preston
Preston firemen answered an alarm Monday at 10 45 am and rushed to the William and Morris Poole farm north of Preston. Flames from burning trees around an old unoccupied house used as a granary set the roof on fire. Firefighters reached the scene and controlled the blaze preventing further damage.

Lieut Vernon Hinckley of Preston has been assigned to the 7th Armored Division Leaders Course at Camp Roberts California as an instructor in general military subjects. He earned his commission through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Idaho in June 1952. He and his wife Alice reside in Paso Robles California.
